Message From Our Principal All of the student desks have arrived and next week we look forward to welcoming our 3 rd, 4 th and 5 th grades back to the Chef Menteur campus as their classrooms become available. Construction crews are forming the spot to lay the cement foundation for the temporary dining room and kitchen. We expect that area to be completed within the next two weeks. Also on the horizon is the completion of the primary grade buildings with anticipated occupancy being sometime during the month of October. We hope to begin serving hot breakfast and lunch within the next two weeks but until that time please continue to bring lunch from home. Know that each day brings us closer to the completion of our temporary site. Demolition for the old St. Mary’s is scheduled for November and plans have begun for the model of the new school. Wireless internet is now available on campus. Coming soon will be canopies between the classrooms which will shield our students from the rain. Telephone and intercom service is also being added. Traffic seems to be moving as efficiently as possible under the present circumstances and gravel will be added behind the old cafeteria to provide a closer drop-off and turnaround area. Special thanks to Father John Raphael and the students of St. Augustine High School who came out on Saturday to help move books and furniture into the buildings. Our sincere appreciation is also extended to Criminal Sheriff Marlin Gusman who provided labor and traffic control for our school. Parents who are available to help around the campus are asked to contact the SMA Business Office at (504-245-0200.
