Congratulations LaShawn Nevins A+ Athlete !!

 

This past week, senior LaShawn Nevins was named a McDonald's WWL-TV A+ Athlete.  Congratulations LaShawn for being selected for this nationally recognized award!

A+ Athletes honors students that demonstrate high academic achievement, athletic ability, and involvement in the community. 

On September 26, LaShawn will be honored at an awards ceremony and luncheon. Jim Henderson of WWL-TV will interview LaShawn. The interview will air on WWL-TV and i-News available at WWL-TV.com sometime during the school year.

LaShawn plays power forward on the basketball team and first baseman on the softball team and is a third degree black belt in Taekwondo. She is a member of the National Honor Society, French Club, Geek Squad, and has achieved the highest academic honors since starting at St. Mary’s Academy as a freshman. LaShawn is currently enrolled in Honors and Advancement Placement Courses. She has volunteered with Woodmere Civic Association assisting with voter’s registration and volunteered as a Camp Counselor with Immaculata’s High School summer camp.

She is the daughter of Mr. Fred Nevins and is coached by Mr. Keith Haywood in basketball and Mrs. Karen Durand in softball.

After graduating she plans to attend Georgia Tech or North Carolina A & T to study Industrial Engineering.
