Greetings Dear Maryite Sisters!

Happy New Year!

It seems as if 2007 came and went so quickly; and here we are in 2008 already!

It was a good year, filled with blessings and challenges for St. Mary’s Academy.

Our students started moving back home on the Chef in September. The rebuilding process is in full swing, and our Principal, Sister Jennie Jones, and her dedicated faculty and staff is doing everything in their power to continue their commitment to excellence in education.

To date, all of our students have returned to our home campus. We’ve had some hurdles to climb, but our beloved St. Mary’s Academy is strong and steadfast on the wings of prayer and under the direction of The Sisters of the Holy Family.

Our struggle is far from over, as we look forward to the completion of our temporary school and the demolition of buildings ravaged by the waters of Katrina. Yes, we still call her name, because our dear St. Mary’s is still recovering and need the prayers and support of all of us.

Homecoming 2007 was wonderful! It was a time of fun and fellowship, but also a time to realize that we must work together until it’s all done.

I welcome suggestions and ideas that will contribute to the spiritual & financial growth of our association and our Alma Mater.
